Welcome to Disney Springs

Goodbye, so long, farewell my friend. Goodbye, so long farewell.

Downtown Disney, it was really nice knowing you; however, you have to make way for Disney Springs! As of September 29, the switch was official. At first I was only marginally excited about the big switch but with announcement and announcement my excitement has grown. I'm only sad Disney Springs didn't exist when I did my Disney College Program.

With the unveiling of Disney Spring, there are new restaurants, new bars and new shopping experiences. Here's what you should expect:

What's New in Disney Springs Eats

Morimoto Asia

Master chef Masaharu Morimoto's latest location. This pan-Asian restaurant includes open terraces, grand halls, private rooms, a cocktail lounge, and waterside seating. For those Disney fans missing the old Pleasure Island, you'll remember this spot as the infamous Mannequins club. It's also incredibly stunning to look at.

The BOATHOUSE

A signature, upscale restaurant on the water, featuring steaks, chops, seafood and a raw bar. There's live music and the restaurants serves guests up until 2am, so it's perfect for a couple looking for something great to eat after Illuminations. It's also home to the amazingly cool amphicar rides which take you from land to lake during a tour of Disney Springs.

Erin McKenna Bakery NYC

A bakery with what looks to be incredibly delicious cupcakes and treats. Those with food restrictions can rejoice, as this treat spot has vegan and gluten free options.

Vivoli Gelateria

Real Italian gelato, with ingredients imported straight from Italy. Need I say any more? I don't need to, but I will. Vivoli Gelateria will also have panini, biscotti, espresso and tarts. Take me now!

What's New in Disney Springs Drinks

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

An aviation-themed bar that is a dream come true for fans of Indiana Jones. Who is Jock Lindsey? Indiana Jones's pilot of course! Inside Jock Lindsey you can sip on cocktails or munch on a few appetizers while viewing aviation posters posters and decor. Fans of the films will also enjoy letters between Jock and Indy, as well as other characters from the films.

Dockside Margaritas

Who doesn't like a margarita on a hot summer night? This outdoor spot in the Marketplace is perfect for grabbing frozen beverages, wine, bottled and draft beer while enjoying nightly entertainment.

What's New in Disney Springs Buys

Shoppers rejoice - here are just some of the new stores in Disney Springs:
  • Apex by Sunglass Hut
  • The Art of Shaving
  • Chapel Hats
  • Erwin Pearl
  • Havaianas
  • Sanuk
  • Sound Lion
  • Tea Traders Cafe by Joffrey's

What's the Point?

While I was slightly upset to say goodbye to the Downtown Disney district I spent so much time there, it is clear to me that Disney Springs is a truly impressive upgrade from Downtown Disney. I cannot wait until it's completed and to see Disney's vision come to life.
