Nightly Fun at Jellyrolls

Welcome to this month's Blogorail Green Loop. Today we are discussing some of the best bars and lounges at the Disney Parks.

When I think about my favorite bar, I'm transported to Walt Disney World. I know that seems strange. I live in New York, where there are a plethora of bars on every street in Manhattan. But few of them offer the excitement, entertainment and simple fun that Jellyrolls has each and every night at Disney's BoardWalk.

What makes Jellyrolls so special? Here are my top three reasons Jellyrolls is a step above the rest:

Entertainment

Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar and for six hours each night, talented pianists play pretty much anything you can think of, but mostly sing-along songs that everyone knows and enjoys. My favorite thing to do at Jellyrolls is to kick back and sing loudly along with the entertainers. Luckily for everyone around me, the music is loud enough that you can't really hear me all that much.

Every hour the pianists switch out so they can take a breather. What does that mean for you? Every hour, you get a new show. Each group has a unique take on the songs and crowds. Is there some repetition? Of course. People tend to ask for the same songs. I almost always hear "Sweet Caroline" requested, for example. But many times the entertainers spice it up and improvise.

Atmosphere

As with most experiences at Walt Disney World Resort, Jellyrolls is laid back. You can show up in shorts after being in the park all day or jeans and a tee shirt and you'd fit right in. The entertainers play along with the audience members and carry on conversations with them. To me, it feels like hanging out in my backyard with friends.

One note of caution: Jellyrolls does get very crowded. The bar itself opens at 7pm most nights and the shows start at 8pm. If you want to be guaranteed a seat, I would get there as early as possible.

Location

Jellyrolls is a great way to kick back and relax after a long day in the parks. Unlike the old Pleasure Island area, you are in walking distance to two theme parks, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. If you're staying in the Epcot resort area, your just a short walk from your hotel room. If not, I highly suggest using an Uber car to get back to your resort. (No drinking and driving, please)

So, if you have time to spare during your next Walt Disney World vacation and could ditch the kiddies for a while, I highly recommend visiting Jellyrolls. There is usually a small cover charge and the drinks aren't cheap, but you will have a great experience coupled with fantastic entertainment.
