Celebrating a Milestone Birthday at Walt Disney World

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Red. Enjoy the ride as we share our experiences celebrating special events at Disney Destinations.

When planning a magical Disney vacation, why not plan it around a birthday? That's exactly what I did last year for my husband's 30th birthday. In fact, I surprised him with a trip completely!

He opened this up with 18 hours left to go!
As a Cast Member, we are taught to wish everyone a happy birthday that walks by us with a birthday pin. (You can get your pin at any guest relations location) You don't truly understand how overwhelming that can be until the moment you are the guest with the birthday! I included a note on every single reservation about my husband's birthday. They wished him a happy birthday from the moment we stepped off the Magical Express until the moment we left.

When making your reservations, you can add a note in the "celebrating" section. Do this for your hotel reservations and your dining reservations. The wait staff is certainly well versed in celebrating magical birthdays.

In addition, a pin tips off characters as well. They may spend some extra time with you as well, catering to you for your special day.

Our most magical experience of this particular trip was when we were just catching some air conditioning and a bottle of water at Pizzafari in Disney's Animal Kingdom. We were traveling with my cousins, one of which celebrated her birthday the day before my husband. A custodial cast member pulled them with a little girl into the center of the restaurant and made everyone sing happy birthday to them.

Disney Cast Members truly go above and beyond!

Have you celebrated a birthday at Disney Parks? How was your experience? Sound off in the comments section below!

Brian and I were so impressed on our trip in 2012 - we had anniversary pins and the Cast Members went above and beyond to make us feel special. Of course, we'll be celebrating Ashley's 21st in a few weeks - that should be fun!

We have celebrated birthdays in the parks too! It's so fun! We just took my son's friend to Magic Kingdom a couple weeks ago on the day before his birthday. It was so sweet to see his little face light up every time someone wished him a happy birthday. Love to celebrate at Disney!

I was at Disney for my birthday last year. It was so much fun! The cast member outside of Columbia Harbour House sang a cute birthday song to me.

That's awesome! I'd love to surprise my husband with a WDW trip for his birthday! Did you talk to his employer ahead of time to make sure he could get off? That would be my biggest concern. Great job!

I did Beth! I emailed his boss a few months before and requested the time off. I knew he had more than enough days to spare. They were super supportive, luckily!

It makes it even more special when you realize that they aren't required to do it!

I find other guests get in on the action too, which is so sweet!

In all my trips to Walt Disney World we have never made a trip over my birthday! Unfortunately it falls in the middle of August and usually coincides with the start of staff development at school. Next year I'm hoping to be able to celebrate at D23 though!

My daughter and I celebrated our birthdays at Walt Disney World in January. It was the first time for both of us. She was treated to a handful of Fastpasses and a birthday card signed by the princesses. It made her feel so special.

We LOVE celebrating anything at Disney but birthdays are the best. How can you not enjoy celebrating your birthday over an entire trip.
