A Disney Dream Date Inspired by Pixar's Up

Welcome to those of you joining me from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the third stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Carl and Ellie Fredricksen had grand ideas about their future. They had dreams of adventure, of flying around the world to exotic locations together. Though their ideas were larger than life, their love was ultimately made of the little moments. I have found that in my own life, the little moments are what means the most.

Therefore, when I think of my Disney dream date based off of a Disney movie, Up's picnic scene immediately comes to mind. Carl and Ellie are saving for their future adventures, but they still find time for romantic dates, like their picnic date at the park.

Finding a Place for Your Picnic
Think about a quiet place outdoors where you can hold a picnic. I live in New York City and believe it or not, several places come to mind right away. It can be a park or beach that is nearby. Pick a nice spring or summer day for your outing. Not everything needs to be planned far in advance; remember, adventure is out there! On a sunny day, you may want to find a place with shade to sit during your meal.

Food for Thought
What a picnic without munchies? I'm not sure I want to find out! When planning food for a picnic, remember to keep it simple. Prepare cool foods, like finger sandwiches or fruit salads, to share. Bring chips or nuts along for munching while staring at the clouds. As for the perfect Up-inspired drink - how about grape soda? You can drink the version made today by Fanta and present your love with this adorable pin from Etsy.

From the MyHoard Etsy Shop. Purchase here.
Picnic Gear
You don't need to break the bank to prepare for your picnic. For as low as $25, you can get this simple, easy to carry roll up quilt from Oriental Trading. In addition, Etsy has vintage wooden picnic baskets for under $40.

I would love to go on a simple picnic date like this! In no time, I'd be falling in love all over again like Carl and Ellie. At the end of the day, you'll have your date saying, "Thanks for the adventure."

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Frontierland Station.

I love this - so creative, to tie in a movie with a romantic but budget-friendly date. Well-done! :) And I agree with heidi, Carl and Ellie are wonderfully inspiring!

Thanks Jennifer! I just love that movie - it's so beautifully and painfully real in so many ways, especially for a cartoon!

Let me know how your dream date goes Hayden! :)

What a wonderful and simple idea for a date! The beginning of this movie is so loving and it always makes me cry.

They absolutely are, Heidi! I just love them - they are the meaning of true love, especially when you compare them to most of the princess love stories!

Cindy, I'm just a mess every time I watch that movie. At the end when Carl goes to the pinning ceremony for "assisting the elderly?" Priceless!

I love the idea of a picnic in the park! We got engaged in Central Park, so it would be wonderful to have our date there. I too cry every time at the beginning!

I think has one of the best love stories of any Disney film. These ideas sound like fun! I especially love the Ellie pin!

This is a great date idea! I love "Up" and would love to recreate a picnic scene and start a bucket list with my hubby of the adventures we hope to go on in the future!

Oh Lisa! Central Park is so incredibly romantic and it's the perfect little escape from the busy and bustling city! Do it!

Rosanne Mottola said...

I agree. It's real, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by Kimberly!

I think a bucket list is a great way to keep track of goals and dreams!

I love the fall! I think because I'm an October baby, it's always been my favorite time of year.

Such a cute idea! I think our family is long overdue for a true picnic.

Great list! I've never had the luxury of a washer/ dryer in my room at WDW. I do completely feel your pain on crocks! I hate those shoes... even if they are "comfortable!" :)

Heidi Strawser said...

Definitely, Rosanne! Maybe that's why I like it so much - it's not your TYPICAL Disney love story. :)

I am also a fall picnic gal. With just a chill in the air it is perfect for snuggling.

Wow, I came across this while looking up ideas for a Up inspired date! I love all these ideas! I'm planning an Up inspired picnic for my fiancé and I! I gave him an Ellie badge for Valentines day this year and we're planning on wearing our badges for our picnic while we eat and drink grape soda, and watch Up from my iPad. We also plan to make an adventure book together on the picnic! A few weeks ago we went to a craft store and got a inexpensive brown leather scrapbook and some paper to decorate the front to look like Carl and Ellie's adventure book! We plan to make the cover and "things we're gonna do" page on our picnic, and slowly add our adventure as we have them! I also found a cute picnic basket for $3 at a thrift store! So I'm super excited for our Up inspired picnic!! :)
