Meeting the Original Donald Duck!

Welcome to those of you joining me from A Disney Mom's Thoughts and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Donald Duck.
Donald is a classic character and a part of the big five with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto. You would think that finding Donald would be easy at Walt Disney World, but it isn't. It simply isn't!

Don't get me wrong. Donald CAN be found. However, he is usually in another outfit. For example:

In Epcot's Mexico Pavilion, he can be found with a poncho and a sombrero.

In the Magic Kingdom's Frontierland, he can be found with his Davy Crockett outfit. In Disney's Animal Kingdom he has his safari gear on.

However, we've never, in 25 plus years of Disney trips, met "classic Donald." Donald is my husband's favorite character and he's always wanted a photo with him in his regular gear.

We had a feeling that the place where it all started, Disneyland, may be able to come through for us. On our second day at Disneyland, we spent the morning at Disney California Adventure Park. We park hopped over to Disneyland Park at dinner time to get to our reservation at Blue Bayou and as soon as we went through the turnstiles, Donald came skipping along holding a little girl's hand. Magical! We were next in line!

Donald spent a lot of time with us. He was a little annoyed that Tom had Mickey on his polo shirt, but he soon got over it.

Looking for your own Donald adventure? At Disneyland, Donald can be found on Main Street USA, and at Paradise Pier in California Adventure.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Disney Mamas.

Here is the map of our Magical Blogorail should you happen to have to make a stop along the way and want to reboard:

Oh my gosh, I don't think I ever realized that he's so hard to find in his traditional clothes. We've met Donald a BUNCH of times over the years, but I never really thought about it. I'm so glad that you got to meet him at Disneyland. Your smiles say it all!

That is so funny you mentioned it! We go to Disneyland 2 times a year, and have never been able to catch Donald! When we found him, his line was closed! This last trip in March I had a goal to find him and vowed to stay in ToonTown (where you often find him) until we saw him on the last day. Well, when we walked into the park, there he was in Town Square, short line and all. My son pushed him gently and Donald threw his temper tantrum he is famous for. Then I told everyone to say "Mickey Mouse" for the picture and that made Donald pretty upset. It was great!

So glad you had that extra special magic while at the Happiest Place on Earth!

I've never met the classic Donald!! That's so interesting how hard it is to find him in Disney World in his classic outfit! Maybe one of these days I'll meet him there, or if I ever get to DisneyLand! What a cool moment!
Which was your favorite Donald to meet?

I still remember meeting Classic Donald on the Empress Lily back in the 90's! He stole my sisters hair clip and wouldn't give it back. :-)

I never thought about this, but are exactly right Roe. I've NEVER seen classic Donald. Now I know that we need to keep our eyes peeled when we go to Disneyland in November. Quack!!

We have a pic with Donald in his Mexican outfit and a sailor suit, but none in his original costume. Good point! I never noticed how rare that was before!

Here you go, Roe, a picture of Donald in traditional garb at the old Mickey's Toontown Fair pavilion. I'll be on the lookout for him next month at WDW and let you know if I find him! Great post!

That's pretty cool sharing! I'm bit impressed to review your post. I had a great experience of Disney's Animal Kingdom park before long time with my family through the bus tours. My kids really love this place. As well as it is one of the most unique attractions at any theme park around the world. We find this amazing bus tour with the help of this site definitely will be back!

At the WDW spot you can enjoy the numerous attractions
like Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and
the Disney’s animal kingdom. I have been there numerous times before my bus to washington dc tour. Safari rides entertain the every visitors and especially creates a horrible scene during the dark ending. Now, I am planning to visit the splash and space mountain. Any suggestion for my visit would be much appreciated there.
