When I first came across the Kill Refurb Marry blog hop by
This Happy Place Blog and
Mouse on the Mind, I was a bit confused. How could this tie into Disney? Well, here's a quick explanation: "
You are probably familiar with the popular parlor game, Kill – Boff –
Marry, where given the choice between three people, you must decide
which you’d murder, sleep with or spend the rest of your life with."
Instead of these violent and inappropriate-for-a-family-Disney-blog options, these imaginative bloggers transformed it to a Walt Disney World version. Based off a topic, you need to pick an attraction, restaurant, show, etc. that you would kill, refurbish or marry. Isn't this fun? Well I thought so until I had to kill an attraction. :)
This month we are discussing
thrill rides.
KILL: Test Track
Killing a ride has proven to be significantly more difficult than I thought it would be!
Indulge me while I explain my reasoning. I have never felt an attachment to this e-ticket attraction. I'm not really sure why. I always thought the concept was pretty cool, but it has always frustrated me.
Why? First of all, the line is frustrating and slow. Part of the reason it is slow is because the ride system is temper mental and the sight of water seems to break the attraction down completely. Second of all, the track is magnificent; however, the ride leading up to that point is sort of boring and predictable.
As many of you know, this attraction went through a refurbishment last year. I had high hopes for this refurbishment. I found that the new option of creating your own car is cool, but the logistics of it all does not work. The coolest part of the attraction now is to race your cars against your friends and family, but unless you ask, you only make one car for the entire party. And even when we did that, the screens showed cars for another car, not ours. It was disappointing.
Because Test Track just got a refurb and because it's still not up to snuff, it's my choice to
KILL.
REFURB: Space Mountain (At WDW)

Oh dear Space Mountain. My home away from home. My former work location back in 2004 when I was on the Walt Disney World College Program. I love you. You are a classic. But you are in serious need of a facelift!
Space Mountain is a beloved attraction and it always will be. There are some Disney purists that don't like when classic attractions are upgraded. However, as Disneyland has proven, Space Mountain can not only survive a refurbishment, but shine after a refurbishment.
Space Mountain in Florida desperately needs new cars that are easier to board (you'd be surprised about how many guests struggle with this), a new sound system that incorporates music and a smoother track.
I know that once Disney decides to invest in Space Mountain, they'll help one of my favorite attractions thrive in its golden years.
MARRY: Tower of Terror

It should be no surprise to my regular readers that I want to marry the Tower of Terror.
I love everything about this attraction. First and foremost, I am absolutely smitten with the theme of this attraction and its use throughout the entire ride experience. The line is perfect. The music is perfect. The cast member costumes are perfect. The hotel lobby is unreal!
The preshow is the perfect set up for the attraction. It tells a great story. It tells an original story and is not tied to a Disney movie. It is eerie and frightening.
In my opinion, it's the perfect combination of thrilling and fun. I love it! Tower of Terror: Will you marry me?
This was so much fun! Thanks for reading!
