Here is a hint: it combines three things I love most in this world.
Food, wine and EPCOT.
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival (F&W) hits Orlando every fall from late September to mid November. EPCOT is my favorite place to eat at drink at Walt Disney World, and the F&W Festival simply brings it to a new level. In addition to the countries represented in permanent pavilions in the World Showcase, many other countries and cultures are represented with F&W stands. These kiosks feature appetizer size food and beverages for approximately $2 to $4...just enough to sample food from all around the world.
In addition to your own culinary tour around the world, the F&W Festival offers cooking demonstrations by world famous chefs, mixology classes and wine tastings. To top off the night,
the American Garden Theater at the American pavilion hosts the "Eat to the Beat" concert series, featuring popular music performers. This past year's festival featured artists such as Jon Secada, Sugar Ray, Boyz II Men, Hanson, Air Supply and Sister Hazel.
Roe's Top Tip: Many Food & Wine Festival first timers get thrown off with having to pay at each booth for appetizer-sized food. Instead of taking out your wallet at every kiosk, purchase a Disney gift card to swipe at the kiosks. Even if you have a few glasses of wine in you (and you will, trust me!) you will be much more organized!
If you attend the F&W at night, be prepared for decent-sized crowds. Even though October and November isn't the busiest time of year at Walt Disney World, the F&W Festival is a very popular event among the locals. Many annual passholders will spend their weekends in EPCOT to experience it all. Try to go as early as possible when others are spending the majority of their time in Future World in attractions.
You will not be disappointed with either Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! Have you attended either of these events? Tell me about your experience in the comments section.
