5 Days 'Til Disney! Cheating on Disney

Yesterday, my dear friend Leanne left this comment on my post:

"Love it, Roe! I am shocked that you are skipping Disney for a day to go to Universal!! Do you normally do that? Can you believe I have NEVER been to Universal because I can't get myself to stay away from Disney for even one day!!"

Leanne was definitely right! I do not normally go to Universal Studios. There is terrible guilt when I cross through the gates. I feel as if I am cheating on Disney. I have a mental block when it comes to Universal. Between my College Program and my Professional Internship I lived in Central Florida for over a year... and never went to Universal once. Nada once. I have always felt that the rides at Universal were just rides and for that, I can go to Six Flags in New Jersey.

Quick story: On our annual Disney trip when I was a kid, we spent a day in Universal. We all felt guilty. While on line for the ET ride, our dear family friends came up with a brilliant idea-we gave the names of the seven dwarfs! (Here's a long overdue shout-out to Randy, Kathi and Ryan!)

Rosanne, Alfred, Ryan, Kathi, Randy, Susan and Peter

However, this year we will be going to Universal for a day. My Disney guilt isn't as strong as my desire to go to Hogwarts.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter

In the past year, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure park premiered The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I have to decided to experience it... once. Universal created an entire land dedicated to the magical world that J.K. Rowling built. While we are there, we have decided to buy an Express Pass to see all the other attractions once. Then we shall return to Disney to continue our magical vacation!

Have you experienced WWoHP? Do you feel like you are "cheating" on Disney when you go to Universal? Do you think I'm completely insane? Feel free to tell me in the comment session below.

We haven't had the chance yet, but I will go and enjoy it! As of right now, it seems wasteful b/c my 2 year old can't do ANYTHING in IoA.. He'd spend the following us around but could only do like 3 things, so we'll probably wait.. but I SO want to see Hogwarts. Have a great trip!

Ro, we spent the day at The Wizarding World and can tell you, you have to go at least once! It's AMAZING!!! Did feel the same guilt but once we went into Ollivander's and experienced the wand chooses the wizard, we realized it was going to be a great day. And, if it makes your decision any easier, the Wizarding world will only be there for another 7 years before it closes. It is quite a hike to get there through the islands of adventure but once you see Hogwarts and have some frozen butter beer you'll be glad you went! ~~ Toni

Yes, Islands of Adventure is not exactly a kid-friendly park. In fact, up until now I refused to take my husband because he's scared of crazy rides. All he would do is hold my bags! I will definitely be posting photos so you can live through me for now!

Toni- I can't wait for my butterbeer. I can't wait to see it for myself... I am so in love with the world JK Rowling created and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to experience it!

I never felt like I was "cheating" on Disney when I visited Universal until working for WDW! Now, I always feel that way! Funny that you call it "cheating," because for some strange reason that's how you feel! LOL
