WDW News Update: AVATARland?

Right now Walt Disney Company chairman Bob Iger and Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs are announcing a long-term partnership with James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Filmed Entertainment to bring AVATAR to Disney Parks.

According to the announcement on the Disney Parks blog, the first item on the agenda is an AVATAR land at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

While I am thrilled they are going to put more work into Animal Kingdom and try to erase the stigma of a "half day park" I'm not quite sure how AVATAR fits into the theme of DAK. Granted, I was not the biggest fan of the AVATAR movie. Nonetheless, I am excited and have the utmost faith in Disney Imagineering.

Here is a link to the press release. Mostly fluff, but here's a quote: "With its emphasis on living in harmony with nature, Animal Kingdom is a natural fit for the AVATAR stories, which share the same philosophy. Construction is expected to begin by 2013."

Image added. Since Animal Kingdom is the "first up" what do you think is next?
